A double shooting left a 27-year-old dead and the suspect with life-threatening injuries in Oshawa on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, November 29, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m., emergency services responded to a shooting at a residential apartment at the corner of Simcoe Street and Athol Street in Oshawa. Police said when they arrived at the scene they located a male in an apartment unit without vital signs, and despite best efforts by first responders he later died in the hospital. The suspect was located at the scene also suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital where he remains in stable condition. Air1 assisted in searching the rooftops of the scene and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Noah RENISON, age 35, is charged with First Degree Murder. He was held for a bail hearing.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no ongoing community safety concerns.

The deceased is identified as Justin BLIGHT, age 27. This is the eighth homicide in Durham Region for 2020.
