Police arrested a 29-year-old male after he rammed police cruisers before fleeing from police in Uxbridge on Sunday.
On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Durham Regional Police responded to the area of Chalk Lake Road in Uxbridge for a driving complaint call. When responding officers arrived, they located an un-plated silver four-door Infiniti with a male occupant. Before officers had time to speak to the driver, the vehicle struck one of the police vehicles and drove away at a high rate of speed. The officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle near Myrtle Road. Officers discontinued the pursuit for safety reasons but later located the vehicle unoccupied on Lakeridge Road.
The K-9 Unit also responded to assist, and Police Services Dog Klutch located the male hiding under a tree nearby. He was taken into custody and suffered minor injuries from a bite wound. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.
Jason VEILLEUX, age 29 of Halls Road North in Whitby was charged with: Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Flight from Police; Drive while Under Suspension x3; Fail to Comply with Release Order x3; Possess Schedule 1 Substance (crystal meth); Fail to Comply with Probation x2 and Leave Accident Scene.
He was held for a bail hearing.
