A 15-year-old teenager from Oshawa was charged after officers deployed a spike belt to stop his vehicle.

It was approximately 10 pm on Thursday, October the 8th when a red Honda with stolen plates was seen driving erratically southbound on Simcoe Street through Port Perry. The driver lost control initially near Shirley Road as the vehicle spun out of control but continued at a high rate of speed south on Simcoe St.

Durham Regional Police used a spike belt in the area of Simcoe and Howden to stop the vehicle and the driver lost control and slammed into a guard rail suffering only minor injuries.

A 15-year-old Oshawa male is charged with Dangerous Operation and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
