Clarington Emergency & Fire Services were at the Port of Newcastle last night for a sailboat that was engulfed in flames.
The only person on the boat was able to jump off and swim to safety, the cause of the blaze is not known at this time.

Our friends at Molly& Tessa The Fire Dogs gave some great advice this morning on Twitter on fire safety on a boat.
“The threat of fire on-board is always present! If your boat has sleeping accommodations, make sure you have working smoke alarms! Also, install an approved Fire Extinguish at every hatch or door”. For more information visit
