On Saturday, June 27, 2020, at approximately 4:40 a.m., emergency services were called for a serious motor-vehicle collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Westney Road and Williamson Drive in Ajax. A white 2010 Mercedes Benz sustained extensive damage. The driver, a 20-year-old female was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital by Region of Durham Paramedic Services. She sustained minor injuries and was released a short time later.
The second vehicle, a blue Mazda 3 sedan also sustained extensive damage. The 26-year old driver of the Mazda along with four other passengers were all extricated from the vehicle by emergency services. The driver had no vital signs and despite the best efforts of Region of Durham Paramedics, he was pronounced dead at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital.
The four passengers from the Mazda, all males in their 20’s, were seriously injured and rushed to a Toronto trauma centre with one of them being airlifted by Ornge from the scene. One is currently listed in critical condition, the other three are listed in serious but stable condition.
