On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, Durham Regional Police observed a Toyota SUV in the area of Front Street and Second Avenue in Oshawa, driving erratically. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver drove off at a high rate of speed. The car which was reported stolen in Oshawa continued to flee, and officers pursued the stolen vehicle into Ajax.

When the driver of the stolen vehicle came to the intersection of Bayly Street and Salem Rd, the suspect lost control and crashed. The suspect fled on foot into a neighborhood by Porte Rd, and Lord Dr. Durham Regional Police quickly began to search.

Numerous officers, along with Air 1, Tactical Support Unit, and the K-9 Unit, were in the area for some time. Thanks to the great work by Durham Regional Police, the suspect was located and taken into custody.

A 16-year-old of No Fixed Address is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Flight from Police.

He was later released on an Undertaking and did not suffer any injuries
