A male victim was stabbed after an altercation on Southgate Drive in Oshawa Friday morning.

On Friday, February 7, 2020, at approximately 10:35 a.m., emergency services were called to Southgate Drive in Oshawa for a stabbing. The victim was involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect and was stabbed in the chest. The suspect fled in a vehicle but later located by officers at Brock Street and Consumers Drive in Whitby. The suspect was taken into custody.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken by Region of Durham Paramedic Services to a Toronto Trauma Centre for treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital to be assessed under the Mental Health Act.

A 29-year-old male from Oshawa was charged with: Aggravated Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Possession of Weapons Dangerous; Break and Enter and Uttering Threats. He was held for a bail hearing.
