Significant snowfall expected Sunday for Durham Region

A strengthening low pressure system is expected to bring significant snowfall to the region beginning Sunday and continuing through Sunday night before tapering off Monday morning. The bulk of the precipitation is expected to fall throughout the day on Sunday. Strong wind gusts up to 70 km/h and local blowing snow reducing visibilities are also possible.

Some areas to northwestern Durham Region could see several hours of freezing rain or ice pellets before transitioning to light snow or freezing drizzle Sunday afternoon

Travel on roads could become hazardous at times.
