Officers with the Durham Regional Police Services are looking for an armed suspect after a robbery at a grocery store in Newcastle overnight.

At approximately 10:25 p.m on Monday, August 12, 2019, Officers were dispatched to a robbery call at the Foodland Grocery Store on King Avenue East in Newcastle. The suspect entered the front doors armed with a large knife. The suspect made a demand for cash. The masked suspect fled with the cash drawer.

Police checked the area with negative results. The store employees were not physically harmed during the incident.

The suspect is described as: white, small hands, 5’2 to 5’4” tall, with a small build. The suspect was dressed in all black clothes and black shoes. The suspect was armed with a large knife and wore a mask concealing their identity.
