On Thursday, May 9, 2019, Just after 930 pm., emergency services responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles. According to witnesses, a white GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on Bowmanville Avenue just north of Taunton Road when it veered into the northbound lane, striking a blue Jeep Cherokee.
The 31-year-old female driver sustained fatal injuries and was found without vital signs. The passenger of the Jeep, a 35-year-old male from Scugog, suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital where he remains in stable condition. There were two dogs in the vehicle, one of which had to be euthanized due to its injuries. Another dog was taken to an animal hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 60-year-old Scugog male, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a trauma unit in Toronto, he remains in stable condition.
