During the morning of Wednesday, March 27, 2019, a 34-year-old man reported to police that he and his girlfriend had been held overnight, against their will, at a residence on Toronto Avenue in Oshawa regarding a debt that had been unpaid. The male victim was eventually released and was able to contactpolice. Several Central East Division officers, with support from the K-9 Unit and the Tactical Support Unit, surrounded the residence on Wednesday March 27 at approximately 5 p.m. and attempted to communicate with those still inside. Eventually, four suspects were arrested at the residence and the female victim was located with minor injuries.

The fifth suspect, IBRAHIM, was located later on in a vehicle at approximately 1:00 a.m. (Thursday, March 28), in the area of Brock Street and Hwy. 401 in Whitby. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle as it tried to enter the wrong way on Highway 401. The suspect rammed a police vehicle, knocking it into a ditch. The suspect was eventually arrested and charged for the above incident. One officer sustained minor injuries and was later released from hospital. Hassan SAEED, age 26, of Rich Crescent in Whitby is charged with: Forcible Confinement x2; Fail to Comply with Recognizance; Fail to Comply with Probation Order; Obstruct Peace Officer and Personation to Avoid Arrest/Prosecution or Obstruct Justice.

Tina BAKER, age 40 of No Fixed Address is charged with Forcible Confinement x2 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Rashid PLUMMER, age 25 of No Fixed Address is charged with: Forcible Confinement x2; Assault with a Weapon and Assault.

Heidi BENDORATIS, age 40 of Old Scugog Road in Scugog is charged with Forcible Confinement x2 and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

Faarsan IBRAHIM, age 21 of Midland Avenue in Toronto is charged with: Forcible Confinement x2; Flight from Police; Dangerous Operation; Assault with a Weapon; Resist Arrest and Possess Schedule I Substance for Trafficking (Methamphetamine)

They were all held for a bail hearing.
