A 36-year-old male Uber driver was arrested for impaired driving after operating a motor vehicle with a fare in the backseat in Oshawa.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. on Wensday morning Durham Regional Police Service observed a black Mazda 5 van on Simcoe Street and William Street in Oshawa. The vehicle was observed swerving in and out of lanes, at one point driving into oncoming traffic. The driver was stopped and arrested for being impaired by a drug. There was a customer in the backseat at the time of the offence. She did not suffer any injuries.

The 36-year-old from Ajax was charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance – by Drug. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.
