An 85-year-old Scugog man has died as a result of a single-vehicle collision on Island Road in Port Perry.

On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Durham Regional Police members from North Division were called to Island Road and Ma Browns Road in Port Perry after a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle. A 2017 GMC Terrain, being operated by a 71-year-old female was travelling northbound on Island Road near Ma Browns Road when it struck an 85-year-old male pedestrian. Conditions at the time were dark and damp.

The pedestrian was transported by Region of Durham Paramedic Services to Lakeridge Health Port Perry where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the GMC Terrain remained on scene and fully cooperated with police.

Investigators from the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the northbound lane was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Durham Regional Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already come forward.
